Building a cohesive dream team by aligning leaders with emotional intelligence.

Client Profile: Top brass of an infrastructure company – 20 leaders, including the Board, C-suite, and key project heads.

The Challenge

  • The CEO desired grander goals and strategic shifts, but the team seemed stuck in their comfort zones.
  • Despite an open environment, team members felt hesitant to voice bold ideas due to perceived apprehension towards dissent.
  • The Leadership Team EQ Report revealed potential gaps in emotional intelligence skills among some members, impacting team cohesion.

Our Approach

  • Individual EQi-2.0 Assessments: Each leader took the assessment, followed by personalized debriefing sessions. Interestingly, almost everyone discovered 2-3 surprising truths about themselves.
  • Leadership Team EQ Report: This highlighted significant imbalances in certain EQi-2.0 areas, suggesting some team members might not be fully equipped for leadership roles yet. The CEO had a blind spot that was discovered through the team report.
  • Group Coaching Sessions: Leveraging individual reports (while maintaining confidentiality), we facilitated deep-dive discussions. For the CEO, the biggest surprise was the perception within the team that he didn’t welcome dissent or contradictory ideas, dampening the team’s confidence in proposing bold concepts. His blind spot was the belief that he was very approachable for the entire team.

Results

Due to the Covid-19 impact, the initial engagement couldn’t be completed. However, the team, equipped with newfound self-awareness and a commitment to better communication, decided to continue the journey they had begun.
